Job description

St. Louis County’s Information Technology Department is seeking a skilled ERP Analyst (Enterprise Resources Planning) to support the county-wide Workday Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This is a hands‑on position focused equally on Financial Management and Human Capital Management (HCM), supporting the modernization of our HR, Finance, Payroll, and Procurement operations. The ERP Analyst will collaborate with Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, and other departments to support and optimize the ERP system to meet business needs, ensure data integrity, and drive process improvements across the organization. The ideal candidate is an analytical problem‑solver with strong ERP expertise (preferably Workday), capable of translating complex business requirements into effective technical solutions, and comfortable working directly with stakeholders at all levels to successfully deliver a transformative ERP initiative.

The typical starting salary is between $29.42 - $35.30 hourly, depending upon the candidate's qualifications as well as budgetary considerations.

  • Configure, administer, and maintain the County’s ERP Financials and HCM modules, including core finance (General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Purchasing, Budgeting) and HR areas (Core HR, Payroll, Time Tracking, Talent). Ensure business processes, workflows and data fields are set up correctly to meet County requirements and perform regular system maintenance.
  • Work with Finance, HR, Payroll, and other stakeholders to review and analyze departmental workflows and user needs, gathering detailed business requirements and identifying opportunities for process improvements and automation. Translate these requirements into scalable ERP solutions, such as new configurations, business process adjustments, or integrations.
  • Serve as a liaison between IT and functional departments, collaborating with Finance, HR, Budget, and other teams to align ERP capabilities with business goals. Provide expertise on ERP Financial Management and HCM capabilities, advising on best practices and helping department leaders understand how to leverage the system for process improvements and policy compliance.
  • Actively participate in the ongoing ERP improvements and future system enhancements. This includes coordinating activities such as data migration, configuration design, as well as evaluating new ERP features released biannually.
  • Provide advanced end‑user support for ERP, addressing and resolving issues in both HCM and Financial. Troubleshoot functional and technical problems (e.g. workflow errors, integration failures, data discrepancies) and either resolve them or elevate to vendor support or senior team members as needed.
  • Monitor system integrations and data feeds to ensure accurate, secure, and reliable data flow across all systems.
  • Develop and maintain a suite of ERP reports, dashboards, and analytics covering both HR and financial data. Create custom reports and calculated fields to provide actionable insights for HR metrics, financial performance, budgeting, and compliance needs.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all reporting outputs, performing regular audits and working with stakeholders to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
  • Proactively stay current on updates and industry best practices for ERP in government.
  • Create and update system documentation and contribute to end‑user training efforts and change management activities. Assist in organizing training sessions and championing user adoption of ERP self‑service capabilities across departments.
  • Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in business, computer science or related field.
  • At least two years of business, technical, or analytical work experience.
SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT

A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available. The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job‑related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire. The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision. All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
