This techno‑functional position supports manufacturing operations, product configuration, production planning, supply chain, warehousing, logistics, and distribution. The ideal candidate combines strong manufacturing business‑process knowledge with technical ERP configuration, SQL, integrations, testing, and implementation experience.
The organization currently utilizes Friedman ERP on an IBM AS400 platform, with a graphical front end and legacy AS400 back end. Experience with Friedman or AS400‑based ERP systems is highly desirable; however, candidates with strong hands‑on experience implementing and configuring comparable manufacturing ERP platforms, including Infor or SAP, will also be considered.
The position will play an important role in ongoing ERP modernization initiatives, including activating underutilized functionality, improving system configurations, streamlining workflows, and supporting small‑to‑medium‑scale implementation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and improve Engineer-to-Order (ETO) and Configure-to-Order (CTO) workflows, product configuration, product rules, and manufacturing readiness.
- Support bills of materials (BOMs), routings, work orders, MRP/DRP, production planning, inventory management, and shop‑floor transactions.
- Improve warehouse receiving, inventory control, picking, staging, transfers, cycle counts, shipping, dispatch, and logistics workflows.
- Gather business requirements, map existing processes, identify gaps, and translate operational needs into ERP configurations and functional specifications.
- Perform hands‑on ERP configuration, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and ongoing system enhancements across manufacturing, planning, warehousing, and distribution.
- Support the implementation and optimization of previously unused, underutilized, or incompletely configured ERP modules and functionality.
- Create and improve SQL queries, reports, dashboards, operational KPIs, and data validation routines.
- Design, implement, troubleshoot, and improve integrations and automation using APIs, EDI, file‑based interfaces, and workflows.
- Develop or support custom reports, interfaces, scripts, data utilities, and ERP enhancements.
- Participate in small‑to‑medium‑scale ERP implementation and modernization projects, including requirements gathering, configuration, testing, deployment, and stabilization.
- Develop test plans and user acceptance testing (UAT) scripts; coordinate testing, defect resolution, and validation with business stakeholders.
- Partner with manufacturing, production planning, supply chain, warehouse, logistics, and other business teams to identify system improvements and resolve operational issues.
- Coordinate with ERP vendors and other technical resources to troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements, and improve system functionality.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, automation, system scalability, and business‑process consistency.
- Support end‑user training, system documentation, production issue resolution, and post‑implementation support.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of techno‑functional ERP experience, with substantial hands‑on involvement in manufacturing ERP configuration, implementation, enhancement, and support.
- Experience with manufacturing‑focused ERP systems, including direct responsibility for configuring functionality, implementing changes, and troubleshooting technical or functional issues.
- Experience with Engineer-to-Order (ETO) and/or Configure-to-Order (CTO) processes, product configuration, BOMs, routings, work orders, MRP/DRP, production planning, and inventory transactions.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and the relationships between product configuration, materials, production, inventory, warehousing, and distribution.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, shipping, logistics, dispatch, and order fulfillment.
- Strong SQL proficiency for reporting, data analysis, validation, troubleshooting, and supporting ERP enhancements.
- Experience gathering business requirements, documenting processes, preparing functional specifications, configuring ERP solutions, and testing system changes.
- Direct participation in ERP implementation, enhancement, or modernization projects, including configuration, UAT, deployment, and post‑implementation support.
- Ability to translate manufacturing and operational requirements into practical, scalable ERP solutions.
