Job summary

LHH is seeking an Employee Benefits / ERISA Associate for a national law firm. The role involves sophisticated benefits work, strong mentorship, a flexible hybrid environment and long-term growth potential.

The candidate should have 3–6 years of experience and expertise in ACA, ERISA, and qualified retirement plans, with a willingness to expand into related tax matters. In-house experience is welcome as a bridge to private practice.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• Ideally 3–6 years of relevant experience, with flexibility depending on background.
• Experience with employee benefits, ERISA, ACA, qualified retirement plans, and/or related tax matters.
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
• Licensed or eligible to become licensed in the applicable jurisdiction.
• Attorneys currently working in-house who are interested in returning to private practice are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on ACA and health and welfare plan compliance.
• Counsel clients regarding qualified retirement plans, including defined benefit and multiemployer plans.
• Assist with employee benefits issues arising in M&A and other corporate transactions.
• Draft and review plan documents and other benefits-related materials.
• Advise on benefits-related tax and regulatory matters.
• Work on executive compensation and ESOP matters as opportunities arise.
• Assist with benefits-related matters involving the Department of Labor and IRS.
