Wm. T. Spaeder Company in Erie, PA, is seeking a Journeyman Service Plumber to diagnose, repair and install plumbing systems. You will lead customers to informed buying decisions and perform preventive maintenance.

This role requires a City of Erie Journeyman License, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to respond to emergencies in an on-call rotation. Local work with a company truck and benefits are offered.

Job description

The Journeyman Service Plumber will diagnose, repair, and install our customer’s plumbing systems as well as lead customers to informed and confident buying decisions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Install, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing systems and other equipment as necessary.

Provide technical assistance with the design of systems including installations and modifications to existing systems.

Complete preventive maintenance of systems and maintenance services as directed.

Prepare, record and report describing procedures, actions taken and recommended solutions.

Knowledge of pertinent rules and regulations, guidelines, safety orders, departmental operating procedures and safety regulations sufficient to ensure that work is performed in compliance with applicable law.

Follows safety rules/procedures; avoid known hazards in the work environment.

Responds to emergency calls and to be in the on-call rotation.

All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.


• City of Erie Journeyman License

Physical Requirements

• Able to talk, hear, walk, sit, stand, climb ladders use hands to finger, handle or fell and reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel for long periods of time up to eight (8) hours.


• Must possess a valid State driver’s license or can obtain one prior to employment.


• Must be able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment and other plumbing equipment.


• Ability to focus and to differentiate between colors and shades of color.


• Must be able to navigate a construction site to conduct safety checks following OSHA guidelines, on uneven terrain and in varying elements.


• Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
