Job summary

ACCESS San Fernando Valley is a Thrive Pet Healthcare hospital emergency center seeking an ER Veterinary Technician to join our swing shift team in Los Angeles. You will provide high-level patient care, perform rounds, administer medications, and support critical care operations.

The ideal candidate is a licensed veterinary technician with 2–3 years of clinical experience, AVMA-accredited program training, and a commitment to teamwork, patient advocacy, and client education.

Qualifications

• Licensure as a veterinary technician preferred.
• 2–3 years of clinical experience.
• An AVMA‑accredited veterinary technology program preferred; or equivalent education & experience.

Responsibilities

• Give accurate and detailed patient rounds.
• Admit and discharge a patient from the telemetry system.
• Administer oral medications to dogs/cats; assist with IV meds and fluids.
• Place IV catheters in dogs and cats; maintain IV therapy.
• Provide quality nursing care and ensure patient comfort and cleanliness.
• Perform drug calculations and IV fluid additive calculations.
• Obtain radiographs with proper positioning; assist with nebulization and coupage.
• Monitor blood pressure and alert doctor when needed.
• Identify basic cardiac arrhythmias and document findings.
• Prepare surgical packs and assist with operating room setup.
• Set up and test anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment.
• Collect blood from multiple veins and handle samples properly.
• Administer Subcutaneous fluids and perform basic in-house labs.
