Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Christiana, DE is hiring licensed veterinary technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. Join a fast-paced learning environment where you will work alongside skilled professionals to care for critically ill or injured pets.

We offer a 3 x 12-hour rotating schedule with weekend requirements and opportunities to expand your skills through mentorship and education programs.

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technician in good standing
• Experience in emergency/critical care settings
• Ability to work 3 x 12-hour shifts on rotating schedule

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges of vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and vital signs; communicate changes to Vet.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical doses and administer medications.
• Phlebotomy and placing IV catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
