Job summary

VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital in Downers Grove, IL is seeking an Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician to provide high-level nursing care for emergency and critically ill patients in a fast-paced setting.

You will work with Criticalists, ER Doctors, Specialists and a team of technicians, performing triage, stabilization, and advanced procedures with venipuncture, IV placement, imaging, labs, oxygen therapy and transfusion support.

• Provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients.
• Collaborate closely with Criticalists, ER Doctors, Specialists, and fellow technicians.
• Perform triage assessments and assist with patient stabilization.
• Utilize advanced technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, diagnostic imaging, laboratory diagnostics, oxygen therapy, and blood transfusion support.
• Monitor hospitalized and ICU patients, recognizing subtle changes in patient status and communicating findings to the medical team.
• Assist with emergency procedures and advanced treatments.
• Educate clients and provide clear discharge instructions.
• Help create a positive, collaborative environment focused on outstanding patient care.
