Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency and Nursing Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced ER team. The role starts with an hourly pay range of $26.00 to $32.00, depending on experience and skills.

Responsibilities include rounds, triage, client communication, anesthesia support, and in-house lab work. State Registered Veterinary Technician license is preferred, with prior veterinary and emergency experience highly valued.

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency veterinary care required.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced ER environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
