Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets in the United States is seeking an Emergency and Nursing Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced ER team. You will engage in rounds, triage, nursing care, client education and collaboration with the DVM and patient care staff.

Qualified candidates will be a State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred, with prior veterinary and emergency experience and a strong foundation in calculations for medications and CRIs.

Qualifications

• License required or preferred as RVT.
• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexible with work hours and able to work overtime.
• Effective verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather info.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Coordinate with patient care team on treatment plans and nursing care.
• Educate clients on home care, medications and hospital updates.
• Assist DVM with assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house labs and prepare samples for outside testing.
