Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Veterinary Assistant – Emergency Critical Care for a full-time schedule of four 10-hour shifts, including day, swing, and overnight options with a differential for overnight coverage.

You will support ER veterinarians and technicians, perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, radiographs, and basic nursing tasks, while helping manage patient flow, triage, and client communications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on veterinary clinical experience is required.
• Emergency or urgent care experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with ER patient care, treatments, and procedures
• Maintain efficient patient flow by preparing rooms and coordinating with the medical team
• Support triage and intake by obtaining history and starting workflows
• Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes in condition
• Assist with laboratory/diagnostic workflows and basic nursing care
• Assist with procedures and surgery by setting up and supporting the team
• Communicate with clients regarding patient updates, medications, and next steps
• Document patient history and updates in the medical record
• Use safe restraint techniques and keep areas clean and stocked
• Other tasks as assigned
