Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician for the Emergency department. This full-time role involves working alongside veterinarians to provide comprehensive care, triage emergencies, assist surgeries, and manage patient flow.

You will support outpatient treatments, perform lab tests, and help with admissions and discharges while maintaining detailed medical records. Enthusiasm for teamwork and ongoing CE is valued.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as an LVT in emergency or general practice.
• Proficient venipuncture, IV catheter placement, radiographic positioning, drug calculations, meds and fluids administration.
• Ability to lift, restrain animals, and stand long hours; strong client communication and records management.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality care, educate clients, and maximize patient flow.
• Triage emergency patients and monitor hospitalized animals.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures; ensure clean, sterile areas and proper records.
• Communicate health concerns and Thrive Membership options to clients.

About You

As an LVT,you'llplayan important rolein pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey.Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care offacilitatingoutpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgeryassistance, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Role Responsibilities:

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Triage emergency patients
• Monitor hospitalized patients
• Perform patient laboratory tests and nursing care
• Assist with surgeries and procedures
• Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
• Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
• Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
• Other tasks as assigned

Experience & Skills Requirements:

• Has 2+ years experience. LVT required
• Has exceptional technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and radiographic positioning, drug calculations, administer medications and fluids
• Ability to handle, lift, and restrain animals (dogs, cats, pocket pets, etc) and stand for long periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology
• Has organizational and computer skills
• Flexibility to work weekends, overnights, and holidays
