Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets seeks an Emergency Veterinary Doctor Coordinator to support the ER team with scheduling, documentation, and client communication. The role requires prior veterinary experience, especially in emergency settings, strong accuracy in calculations, and excellent verbal and written communication.

Schedule: Sundays 12p–12a and Wednesdays 2p–12a, with flexibility for additional hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Previous emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions).
• Flexible with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supports doctors on shift and may cover multiple doctors as needed.
• Manages workflow follow-through for the supported doctors.
• Coordinates consults, transfers, and diagnostic scheduling.
• Delegates tasks to team members for rounds and diagnostics.
• Serves as main contact for referral transfers when doctors are unavailable.
• Communicates with clients about cases when doctors are unavailable.
• Drafts medical records, gathers initial history and vitals, and prepares letters for doctor review.
• Monitors emails/voicemails for doctors.
• Assists with outpatient procedures per doctor orders.
• Assists with patient transport and room preparation.
• May mentor or train junior staff.
• Coordinates and delegates prescription refills.
