The candidate verifies patient identity, reviews records, and conducts patient interviews to assess risk factors and history. You will explain procedures, set up equipment, acquire images, and communicate findings to radiologists.

Qualifications

• Registered ARDMS/ARRT in Sonography (S) or eligible.
• AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification to be completed by end of orientation.
• Within 12 months of employment, registered in specialty in the area of discipline.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient identity and reviews medical records for appropriateness of exam.
• Interviews patient to obtain/update medical history and assess risk factors (medications, pregnancy, etc).
• Explains procedure to patient, including risks, benefits, alternatives and follow-up.
• Sets up equipment and acquires images as per script.
• Reviews images, documents observations, and communicates data to radiologist.
• Recognizes and responds to medical emergencies as appropriate.
• Provides physician-prescribed post-care instructions to patients.
• Participates in process improvement activities in radiology, including quality of care, patient flow, and patient satisfaction; provides imaging education to staff and learners; may take call/standby.

Education

ARDMS/ARRT Sonography certification or eligible

AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification

Registered in specialty within 12 months
