Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine is seeking an Emergency Room Technician for the Adult Emergency Department in Hyde Park. This is a 100% onsite role based in the greater Chicagoland area.

The ERT assists registered nurses, transports patients, and maintains room readiness with infection control in mind. The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, CPR/BLS, and required state certifications such as CNA with phlebotomy or EMT credentials.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• C.N.A with phlebotomy cert or EKG experience.
• MA with phlebotomy cert or EKG experience.
• EMT-B or EMT-P.
• Must have current Basic Life Support certification through The American Heart Association.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform patient assistance without direct supervision.
• Ability to interact effectively with patients, clinical staff, and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Transporting patients throughout hospital as needed.
• Keeping supplies and linen at par levels in assigned areas.
• Performing and maintaining POC testing and EKG, including QC and data transmission.
• Assisting RN’s with patient care as needed.
• Sitting with medically/psychologically compromised patients.
• Maintaining a clean work environment by preparing ED rooms for the next patient.
• Performs other duties assigned.
