Job summary

San Gabriel Valley Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Technician to support the ED team in providing timely, patient-family centered care across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric.

This role requires quick thinking, strong communication, and proficiency with ED workflows, patient monitoring, vital signs, and basic trauma support. Applicants should have EMT/BLS credentials and be bilingual; the hospital offers a busy, team-based environment with training.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and observation skills.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• EKG experience preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish/Chinese/Vietnamese/English preferred.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enters and maintains data for hospital information systems.
• Performs general secretarial duties such as typing, filing, mail, phones.
• Obtains necessary training prior to initial equipment use.
• Maintains Emergency Department log.
• Demonstrates knowledge of EDITS program.
• Orders supplies as needed.
• Assists nursing staff with computer order entry.
• Documents HMO authorizations appropriately.
• Basic hygiene and nursing care.
• Patient safety measures.
• Use of restraints.
• Vital sign measurement.
• Intake and Output.
• Obtaining/transporting of specimens.
• Stocking of department supply areas.
• Oxygen administration.
• Application of non-sterile dressings/binders.
• Application of orthopaedic immobilization devices.
• Obtaining 12 Lead EKG’s.
• Oral suctioning.
• Point of care testing (urine drip; blood glucose)
• Phlebotomy (adult/pediatric).
• Obtains necessary training prior to initial equipment use.
• Assures equipment is in operating order prior to use.
