Job summary

AHMC Healthcare Inc. in California is seeking an Emergency Technician to assist the ED team in delivering timely, patient-family centered care across all ages.

You will perform data entry for hospital information systems, support nursing with orders, manage the ED log, and ensure equipment readiness while following ED protocols and safety measures. Qualifications include a high school diploma, current BLS and EMT/EMT-P certification, CA phlebotomy license, and preferred bilingual abilities;

Responsibilities

• Enter and maintain data for hospital information for L.A. County in Reddi Net System.
• Perform general secretarial duties (typing, filing, mail, phones).
• Obtain necessary training prior to initial equipment use.
• Maintain Emergency Department log.
• Assist nursing staff with computer order entry and patient care tasks.
• Document HMO authorizations appropriately.
• Administer oxygen and basic nursing care; monitor vital signs.
• Phlebotomy (adult/pediatric) and 12‑lead EKGs; stock and restock supplies.
• Ensure equipment is in operating order and used per manufacturer instructions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Overview

In collaboration with the nursing and physician staff, the emergency technician assists in providing timely and appropriate patient-family centered care for all patients in the Emergency Department.

In order to assist the Emergency Department Team, this position requires an understanding of care and service needs of critically ill through acutely ill pediatric through geriatric population.

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support San Gabriel Valley Medical Center's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).

Responsibilities

• Enters and maintains data for hospital, information for L.A. County through Reddi Net System.
• Performs general secretarial duties such as typing, filing, mail, phones, etc.
• Obtains necessary training prior to initial equipment use.
• Maintains Emergency Department log .
• Demonstrates knowledge of "EDITS" Program.
• Orders supplies as needed.
• Assists nursing staff with computer order entry.
• Documents HMO authorizations appropriately.
• Basic hygiene and nursing care.
• Patient safety measures.
• Use of restraints.
• Vital sign measurement.
• Intake and Output.
• Obtaining/transporting of specimens.
• Stocking of department supply areas.
• Oxygen administration.
• Application of non-sterile dressings/binders.
• Application of orthopaedic immobilization devices.
• Obtaining 12 Lead EKG's.
• Oral suctioning.
• Point of care testing (urine drip; blood glucose)
• Phlebotomy (adult/pediatric).
• Obtains necessary training prior to initial equipment use.
• Assures equipment is in operating order prior to use.
• Uses the following equipment in accordance with manufacturer's operating instructions. Including, but not limited to:
  • Blood pressure measurement devices
  • Thermometers
  • Scales
  • Restraints
  • Dopplers
  • Oxygen administration devices
  • Suction devices (wall/portable)
  • Glucometers
  • EKG Machines
  • Pulse oximeters
  • Glucometers
  • Cardiac monitoring systems
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Excellent communication and observation skills
• Phebotomy experience preferred
• EKG experience preferred
• Bilingual (Spanish/Chinese/Vietnamese/English) preferred
• Basic computer skills preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Current BLS certification required
• Current EMT or EMT-P certification required
• CA Phlebotomy License - CPT I or CPT II within 90 days
• MAB - within 90 days of hire.
