Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, CA is seeking an ER Tech to support Emergency Department nurses and physicians in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. You will measure vital signs, assist with ADLs, transport patients, and maintain equipment, while using the AIDET communication framework with patients and families.
Requirements include at least one year of direct patient care in an ED or pre-hospital setting, BLS/CPR, EMT-CA or NREMT-B certification, and EKG experience.
As our ER Tech, you will help Emergency Department Nurses and Physicians at Dominican Hospital deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and maintain a well-supplied, organized department so they can ensure efficient and compassionate service during critical times.
Every day you will utilize the AIDET principle to communicate with patients and families, accurately measure and record vital signs, weights, and visual acuity, and perform 12-lead EKGs. You will be expected to safely transport patients to diagnostic exams, assist patients with ADLs, maintain equipment and supplies, and effectively function as a unit coordinator providing clerical support.
To be successful in this role you must possess strong communication skills (including AIDET), knowledge of vital sign ranges, medical terminology, and basic computer skills. You should also have at least one year of previous direct patient care experience in an emergency department or pre-hospital setting, EKG experience, and current BLS-CPR certification and EMT-CA (or NREMT-B) certification.
