Job summary

UofL Health’s Emergency Department Tech/Unit Coordinator role provides clinical patient care support under the direction of an RN. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, EKG lead placement, patient transport, and clerical duties in a fast-paced ED setting.

Education requirements include a high school diploma or GED and completion of a Clinical Assistant/Medical Assistant/EMT program; BLS is preferred. Prior ED experience is beneficial.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT Training Program; nursing students with Fundamentals of Nursing may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Measures intake/output, heights/weights and vital signs.
• Performs venipuncture for specimen collection under RN direction.
• Transcribes physician orders and enters them into computer systems accurately.
• Transports patients, lab work, specimens, and blood.
• Assists MDs and NPs with procedures and sterile setups.
