Job summary

UofL Health is seeking an Emergency Department Tech/Unit Coordinator to provide clinical support under the direction of a registered nurse in a fast-paced ED. The role includes clerical tasks, admitting/discharging patients, phlebotomy, EKG lead placement, and trauma care to ensure safe, efficient patient flow.

Responsibilities include vital signs, safety checks for high-risk patients, and assisting physicians and advanced practice providers with procedures. Certification in BLS is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT program, or nursing students who have fundamentals coursework preferred.
• BLS certification (AHA) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical patient care support under RN direction.
• Perform clerical duties and admissions/discharges in hospital systems.
• Venipuncture and 12-lead EKG testing under RN direction.
• Assist MDs/NPs with procedures and sterile fields.
• Transport patients, labs, and specimens within the hospital.
• Maintain equipment and supplies; ensure infection control practices.
