Job summary

MercyOne Health System seeks an ER Tech / Patient Care Tech for the Des Moines metro area. The role supports the Emergency Department team by providing direct patient care, phlebotomy, EKGs, and assisting across age groups as assigned by physicians or RNs.

The position requires assisting with triage, vitals, and patient transport, with 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) and rotating weekends/holidays. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years healthcare experience preferred.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• American Heart Association BLS certification within 6 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Triage Nursing with vitals and rooming patients.
• Complete daily stocking for assigned team.
• Assist RN with EMS arrival of patients.
• Transport patients to other departments (CT, Surgery, floor).
• Clean rooms, change linens, dispose of used equipment, and wipe counters/sinks.
