Job summary

Northern Light Mercy Hospital is seeking a Nursing Support professional in Portland, Maine, for the Emergency Department. This full-time role supports direct patient care under licensed staff, greeting patients, handling telephones, preparing rooms and transporting specimens.

The position requires a Certified Nursing Assistant credential and a High School Diploma/GED, with shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM. A sign-on bonus is available for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to greet patients, support the ED team and adapt to a busy emergency department environment.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors; may perform Quick Registration.
• Assist in data collection for patient assessment (phlebotomy, ECGs, vital signs).
• Collaborate to develop and implement plan of care under supervision of licensed staff.
• Perform procedures directed toward achieving expected outcomes.
• Facilitate outcome evaluation through ongoing communication with the clinical nurse.
