Job summary

Holy Cross Health Fl is seeking a full-time ECG Technician for the Night Shift (7p-7a). You will perform accurate ECG lead placement, verify orders, and ensure patient demographics are correctly entered into the computer system.

Qualifications include a HS diploma or GED; Paramedic/EMT certification preferred, with required EMT/Paramedic experience. IV start experience, computer skills, and willingness to cross-train as a Unit Secretary are necessary.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proper ECG technique and lead placement.

• Identifies high priority rhythms and alerts ED physicians as needed.
• Monitors patient status and communicates with triage nurses.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proper technique and lead placement for performing a quality ECG study.
• Verifies order is placed into computer.
• Acquires ECG assuring all patient demographics are entered and correct.
• Edits ECG s (ie correct patient s name, MR#, room #).
• Transmits from the ECG cart to the data management system.
• Identifies high priority rhythms and complexes and delivers ECG to ED MD for interpretation
• Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient s needs.
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of growth and development.
• Demonstrates the ability to identify high priority patients to the triage nurse, based on pre determined criteria.
• Monitors the waiting room and identifies patient in need for re-assessment by the triage nurse, based on pre determined criteria.
• Recognizes and responds to monitor alarms and/or changes in patient cardiac rhythm, and assures that RN or charge nurse is notified and aware.

Minimum Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required
• Certificate from Paramedic and/or EMT School is preferred.
• Willingness to cross train as Unit Secretary
• Previous experience working as a Paramedic and/or EMT is required. Experience with starting IVs is necessary
• Computer experience

Licensures/Certifications

• Paramedic and/or ER Tech License preferred.
• ACLS, BLS, PALS require
