Job summary

Trinity Health Livingston Hospital in Michigan is seeking an ER Tech to support the Emergency Department under RN supervision. This part-time role focuses on direct patient care, ADL assistance, specimen collection, and documentation within a busy acute care setting.

You will join a 24/7 ED that handles minor to life-threatening cases, with training provided to develop competency in patient transport, IV care, and ensuring a clean, safe environment for patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of direct care experience or completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• Assist patients with ADLs including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, and ambulation; assist with feeding and menu selection.
• Collect and send specimens (blood, blood cultures) and manage IV catheters; record patient information for documentation.

Position Purpose

The ER Tech, under the direction of a registered nurse,is responsible fordirect patient care considering age specific, developmental,culturaland spiritual needs. Theyassistinestablishingand maintaining a patient care environment that is clean,safeand conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSURE

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year ofpreviousdirect care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
  

What you will do:

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The ER Techassistspatientin completing ADLsincluding:Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• An ER Tech will collect and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts andremovesperipheral IV catheters. They are responsibleto recordpatient information and required data inappropriate areasin order tomeet documentation requirements.
• Services include an award-winning 24-hour emergency department,inpatientand outpatient surgery, including joint replacement, a variety of diagnostic and outpatient services and over 300 physicians serving patients.
• Trinity Health Livingston Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) is available24-hoursa day,365 daysa year to care for minor illnesses/injuries, as well as major life-threatening, traumatic,medicaland surgical problems.
