Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Newton, IA, is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join its Emergency Room team on the weekend shift. You will provide professional nursing care to diverse patient populations, utilizing the nursing process and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires Iowa RN licensure, BCLS, and a commitment to ongoing education. Weekend differential eligible and full-time schedule (36 hours per week) are offered.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the nursing process and its application.
• Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.
• Skilled in post-operative care for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Ongoing continuing education in nursing, appropriate to clinical assignments.
• BCLS certification at the healthcare provider level required.
• ACLS and PALS certifications recommended.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, care planning, interventions, and evaluation of patient status.
• Manage personalized care by promoting and restoring health, collaborating with providers and the multidisciplinary team, and offering physical and psychological support to patients and their families.
• Execute care plans as prescribed by providers, adhering to nursing practice guidelines and ensuring age-appropriate, culturally sensitive care.
• Educate patients on medication, procedures, and their care plans during hospitalization and post-discharge.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and provide care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner, respecting patient autonomy, dignity, and rights.
• Perform and/or supervise activities requiring registered nurse expertise, seeking assistance when necessary.
• Provide leadership and direction in supervising others in delivering nursing care.
• Maintain current competencies by attending educational workshops and participating in departmental projects for process improvement.
• Adhere to the highest safety standards in all tasks.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
