Job summary

Tenet Desert in Joshua Tree, CA seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) ED - Emergency Department Supervisor to oversee patient care on the ED unit. The role requires leadership across shifts, coordination of staff schedules, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.

The RN will supervise clinical activities, participate in meetings, support budgeting and CQI initiatives, and provide direct patient care as needed while maintaining excellent communication with the care team and physicians.

Qualifications

• Current California RN license is required or active licensure in CA.
• BLS, ACLS certifications required; NRP/PALS/MICN as applicable per unit.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred for supervisory role.
• Minimum 3 years of acute care experience in clinical setting.
• Recent supervisory/management experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all patient care activities for the defined unit during the shift.
• Assist with scheduling, timekeeping, and unit goals.
• Participate in staff evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Provide training and guidance to staff, including coverage for leadership as required.
• Ensure patient safety and quality of care; monitor outcomes and implement improvements.
• Assist Director with budgeting, meetings, and CQI projects.
• Cover shifts when needed and manage staffing levels and skill mix.
• Document clearly in medical records and coordinate with physicians.
