Job summary

AdventHealth in Maitland, FL is seeking a compassionate registered nurse for the Night shift on a PRN basis. You will perform assessments, develop care plans, administer meds, supervise staff, educate patients and families, and support physicians at the bedside.

This role requires RN licensure, an Associate Degree in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred), strong clinical and communication skills, EKG proficiency, and the ability to work across departments.

Qualifications

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes.
• Basic computer skills – navigate Windows-based programs.
• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written).
• Equipment used to stabilize and monitor patients (IV insertion, central lines, etc.).
• Proficient clinical and critical-thinking skills with strong communication.
• Commitment to hourly patient rounding and EKG interpretation class.
• Independent judgment and calm, professional conduct in clinical situations.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize duties in stressful environments.
• Knowledge of nursing care methods and pharmacology for medication delivery.
• Ability to work well with health professionals toward the facility mission.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document accurate initial and ongoing assessments.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans with the interdisciplinary team.
• Administer medications as ordered and monitor responses.
• Supervise nursing personnel to ensure safe, quality patient care.
• Educate patients and families about care plans and meds.
• Assist physicians with bedside procedures and prep for tests.
• Monitor labs and report abnormal results.
• Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and infection control.
• Document patient care timely in medical records.
• Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based projects.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with the team.
