Job summary

Los Angeles Community Hospitals is seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse to provide prompt, high-quality care for acutely ill or injured patients. You will monitor cardiac status, manage ventilators and arterial lines, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient ED throughput.

You will develop individualized plans of care, educate patients and families, and mentor new graduates.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (CA)
• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
• Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a changing environment
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only)
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• One year of ED nursing experience or completion of ED training including EMTALA/ESI 5 within first six months
• De-escalation certification at hire; SAMA certification upon recertification

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care including medications, IV titrations, arterial lines, cardiac monitoring, ventilator management and procedures
• Develop and implement plans of care with patient and family, communicate progress and adjust as needed
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality ED throughput
• Lead and mentor new graduate nurses, respond to emergencies (RRT/Code Blues) and ensure HIPAA/compliance
