Job summary

Grandview Medical Center is seeking an ER Registrar to manage patient intake and registration in the Emergency Department. You will collect personal, insurance, and medical information, verify details, and ensure confidentiality while delivering excellent customer service.

You will support accurate documentation, insurance verification, and effective communication across clinical and administrative teams to facilitate smooth department operations in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families professionally to create a positive first impression.
• Registers patients for emergency services, collecting all required personal, insurance, and medical information.
• Verifies patient identification and insurance details and updates records as needed.
• Obtains signatures on consent forms and explains each consent prior to signing.
• Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility for billing.
• Collects co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and questions.
• Documents when patients cannot sign and notes if a family member or nurse signs.
• Verifies insurance plans and codes to ensure prompt payment.
• Compiles paperwork for quick retrieval of the visit.
• Armbands patients for proper identification during their stay.
• Notifies departments of patient arrival and follows up on waits.
• Maintains communication during emergency codes and alerts the facility when plans are in place.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular attendance and compliance with policies.
