Job summary

The Emergency Department at Topeka Hospital is seeking an experienced ED Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time role in Topeka, KS. The RN will assess, triage, and treat patients across all ages, administer medications, supervise support staff, and collaborate with physicians to implement care plans.

Requires two years of ER experience, an accredited nursing degree, current state RN licensure, and active CPR/ACLS/PALS or ENPC, with TNCC preferred.

Qualifications

  • Two years of emergency room experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Licensure with the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Current BCLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC preferred.
  • Education appropriate for age-specific needs in emergency care.
  • Annual clinical competency validation and fluent English.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and triage in the ED.
  • Provide emergency care to patients of all ages.
  • Administer medications following the five rights and hospital policy.
  • Supervise ED Technicians and other staff to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Communicate with patients and families to explain procedures and care plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams on care plans.
  • Maintain infection control standards and a safe clinical environment.
  • Participate in ongoing education and quality improvement initiatives.
