Job summary

USGP in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive emergency care services at Naval Hospital Jacksonville. This role supports active duty service members, their families, and veterans with a broad range of clinical duties.

Competitive pay at $70.00/hr plus a health and welfare stipend, plus Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance and a 401K, PTO and holidays off, and a strong commitment to professional growth within a federal facility.

Qualifications

  • Certification in addition to Basic Life Support: NCCPA; ACLS; PALS.
  • Experience: minimum of 1 year as a Physician Assistant in an Emergency Room setting in the last 3 years.
  • Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted PA license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care within scope of training and privileges.
  • Diagnose, treat, and counsel patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions across organ systems; provide immunizations.
  • Direct and teach staff; deliver educational lectures and participate in in-service training.
  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance through education and counseling.
  • Prescribe per approved protocols and immunizations.
  • Identify medical problems and coordinate referrals to physicians.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within scope of practice.
  • Establish collaborative rapport with physicians and nursing staff to support primary care.
  • Educate patients and families on healthy regimens and wellness responsibilities.

USGP has an opportunity for a PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT to provide services to our military service members, their families, and veterans within the EMERGENCY ROOM at NAVAL HOSPITAL JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA.

Qualifications
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants (NCCPA); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. In addition, the Physician Assistant, Emergency Medicine is required to have Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of one (1) year experience within the last three (3) years as a Physician Assistant in an Emergency Room setting.
  • Board Certification: N/A
  • Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant
Job Duties

To include but not limited to:

  • Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care within the limits of their training and privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
  • Technically direct and provide care for a variety of diseases and types of injuries (i.e., acute, chronic and minor trauma), and the skills to recognize emergency conditions in order to diagnose, prescribe for and treat diseases, disorders and injuries, and refer the more complex cases and serious conditions to qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment.
  • Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.
  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
  • Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee approved medications and immunizations.
  • Identify a medical problem and determine appropriate action to meet the problem, including referral to a physician.
  • Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with scope of practice.
  • Establish collaborative rapport with physician, nursing and others in order to promote and facilitate primary care services.
  • Teach patients and family member's healthy regimen and responsibility for achieving wellness.
  • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement.
