Job summary

USGP seeks a Physician Assistant to work full-time at Nellis AFB, NV, delivering primary and specialty care to active-duty service members.

Qualifications

Qualifications of Physician Extenders

  • Degree/Education: Possess a Baccalaureate degree from a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP)
  • Experience: Possess two (2) years of experience within the last three (3) years as a full-time Physician Assistant. Preference given to applicants with at least 12 months of Urology specific experience.
  • Board Certification: Possess and maintain current certification as a Physician Assistant from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Licensure/Registration: Possess and maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in any one of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands

Job duties for Physician Extenders may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care within the limits of their training and privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
  • The contractor is required to abide by the Medical Staff Bylaws upon acceptance of privileges to practice.
  • Technically guide and provide care for a variety of diseases and types of injuries (i.e., acute, chronic and minor trauma), and the skills to recognize emergency conditions in order to diagnose, prescribe for and treat diseases, disorders and injuries, and refer the more complex cases and serious conditions to qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment.
  • Examination of patients, formulation differential diagnostic plans, defines and orders required diagnostic testing.
  • Interpretation of examination findings and test results, and implementation of treatment plans.
  • Answering patient work telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff.
  • Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
  • Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee approved medications and immunizations.
  • Identify a medical problem and recommend appropriate action to meet the problem, including referral to a physician.
  • Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with scope of practice.
