Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Westerville, OH is seeking a Part Time Patient Financial Specialist I to assist with registration, verify insurance, collect balances, and guide patients through financial options using EPIC.

You will interpret CPT/ICD-9 coding, ensure third-party compliance, arrange payment plans, and act as a resource for departments and physicians. Prior healthcare billing experience and understanding of Medicare/Medicaid are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in health care administration or related field is preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; relevant experience may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Register patients.
• Verify insurance.
• Communicate with patients about balances.
• Use EPIC for patient accounts.
• Demonstrates understanding of Medicare, Medicaid and other third party regulations.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of CPT and ICD 9 coding and payor reimbursement methodologies.
• Assists in establishing payment arrangements for patients.
