Job summary

Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Paramedic for the Emergency Department (Mids: 11a–11p). You will provide advanced life support, administer medications, and assist with procedures in a high-paced ED setting.

Under RN and physician supervision, you will document care in the EMR, support patient throughput, and ensure safety and comfort for diverse patients across the lifespan.

Qualifications

• Technical School completion of an accredited Paramedic program required.
• Associate Degree in EMS or related field preferred.
• 0-2 years of EMT-P experience required.
• Experience in hospital ED, ambulance, or critical care transport preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced life support and clinical care in a fast-paced ED.
• Administer medications within scope and document reactions per protocol.
• Assist with resuscitation and trauma care as needed.
• Monitor patient conditions and alert team to changes.
• Document care in EMR accurately and timely.
• Facilitate patient flow and throughput with multidisciplinary team.
• Prepare patients for procedures and imaging; explain interventions.
• Maintain ED equipment and restock supplies as required.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families to reduce anxiety.
• Adhere to policies, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
