Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is seeking an experienced Emergency Registered Nurse (ER RN) for full‑time night shift. You will provide direct, individualized nursing care to patients with urgent and life‑threatening conditions in a fast‑paced ED.

The role requires critical thinking, rapid assessment, and collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient patient care in alignment with hospital standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• DC RN License required.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.
• TNCC preferred.
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for patients with acute illnesses, injuries and emergencies.
• Prioritize patient care based on acuity using triage principles and emergency nursing standards.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and treatments safely and accurately.
• Monitor, evaluate, and document patient conditions, responses to treatment, and changes in status.
• Initiate emergency interventions for trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological and other critical conditions.
• Operate and monitor emergency equipment including cardiac monitors, defibrillators, ventilators, and infusion pumps.
• Collaborate with physicians, EMS, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans.
• Assist with emergency procedures including intubation, conscious sedation, trauma resuscitation, and code response.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.
• Serve as a patient advocate delivering compassionate, culturally competent care.
