Job summary

Riverview Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department to handle initial patient assessments, laboratory work, point-of-care testing and related administrative tasks. This role collaborates with physicians on discharge plans and educates patients on discharge instructions, ensuring smooth transfers for admitted patients.

The ideal candidate holds an RN license in Indiana, with a minimum of two years in critical care and/or ED experience, and current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ENPC

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program by date of hire.
• Two years of critical care experience minimum; ED experience preferred.
• Indiana RN license upon hire date.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, ENPC certifications within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• CPR/BLS and advanced life support credentials must be current.

Responsibilities

• Triage and assess ED patients and prioritize care based on severity.
• Perform labs, point-of-care testing and medications administration as prescribed.
• Collaborate with physicians on discharge planning and patient education.
• Document patient information and care in the EMR accurately.
• Monitor patient status and communicate changes to care team.
• Assist with procedures and transfers to inpatient units as needed.
• Provide discharge instructions and coordinate transportation as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
