Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department in Patchogue, NY. You will deliver professional nursing care per physician plans, with attention to patient comfort and family support.

The role requires a two-year nursing program, NYS RN licensure, and BLS/ACLS/PALS as applicable to ED. Prior ED or Med Surg experience is preferred; day shifts are available on a full-time basis.

Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year nursing program from an accredited school.
• Current New York State license as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required for ED roles.
• 1 year of nursing experience preferred for ED/Med Surg roles.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient health data with patient, family, and other health care providers.
• Perform initial assessment based on patient presentation.
• Record data on the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
• Demonstrate awareness of age and cultural needs of patients served.
• Conduct ongoing assessments as per department policy and patient response.
• Incorporate discharge planning into the admission process.
• Analyze assessment data to identify problems and expected outcomes.
• Communicate outcomes to patient, family, and other health care providers.
• Develop a plan of care with prescribed interventions to attain outcomes.
• Document the initial plan of care and provide updates as required.
