Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover, Delaware, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. The role provides direct patient care in a fast-paced acute setting and participates in care planning and documentation.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma.
• Certification: Registered Nurse; BLS; ACLS/PALS may be required.
• Experience: Preferred in relevant specialty.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
• Develops a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and LPN staff.
• Demonstrate core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• Participate in quality and performance improvement plans.
• Collaborate in decision making and uphold ethical principles.
• Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• Other duties as assigned within scope.
