Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital in New York is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) for the Emergency Department. This full-time night-shift position provides direct patient care, develops individualized care plans, administers medications, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to support patient health and safety.

The RN1 role requires NYS RN licensure; a BSN is preferred along with ED experience and relevant certifications (ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CEN/CCRN/CPEN).

Qualifications

• Possession of NYS RN license is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• ED experience and certifications (ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CEN/CCRN/CPEN) are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and coordinate nursing care with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written care plan including teaching and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care and medications as needed.
• Practice infection control and maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the Charge RN/Clinician.
• Maintain current written plan of care and set patient goals.
• Document patient/family teaching and responses in the medical record.
• Collaborate with staff and other departments.
• Participate in quality assurance activities to advance nursing care.
