Job summary

Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS seeks an experienced Emergency Room Clinical Supervisor (RN) to oversee ER operations, balance administrative duties with patient care, and support the nursing team on night shifts. The Charge Nurse will coordinate patient flow, assign duties, mentor staff, and collaborate with physicians to ensure timely, high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BLS certification required at hire.
• ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire and current.
• PALS certification required within 30 days of hire and current.
• TNNC within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum 1 year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting; supervisory preferred.
• CEN within 2 years of hire preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary supervisory figure for ER nursing staff during shifts, ensuring optimal care delivery and efficient patient flow.
• Assess patient conditions, prioritize patient needs based on severity, and allocate resources effectively to provide timely care.
• Mentor and support nursing staff, providing guidance, conflict resolution, and performance feedback to maintain a cohesive work team.
• Serve as a liaison between physicians, nurses, patients, and families, ensuring clear communication about treatment plans and patient status.
• Ensure readiness to respond swiftly to medical emergencies, coordinating with medical teams for critical interventions.
• Implement hospital policies, maintain patient safety standards, and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Oversee the availability and proper use of medical supplies and equipment, coordinating with procurement and logistics as necessary.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care practices and departmental efficiency.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to fast-paced environments.
• Capability to stand, walk, and perform physically demanding tasks for prolonged periods.
