Job summary

Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, is seeking an ED Charge Nurse to oversee nursing staff and patient care during shifts. You will coordinate staffing, ensure safety, and collaborate with leadership to deliver high-quality ED services.

The role requires an active RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS/ENPC within specified windows, TNNC, and supervisory experience. ED experience and a BSN are preferred; weekend/shift flexibility may apply.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BLS (AHA) certification on hire and maintain.
• ACLS (AHA) certification within 30 days and maintain.
• PALS (AHA) certification and/or ENPC within 30 days and maintain.
• TNNC within 6 months of hire.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Minimum of one year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital ED setting.
• CEN certification within 2 years of hire preferred.
• BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure nursing staff quality and patient care during the shift.
• Assist Director in daily operation of ED and unit activities.
• Provide direction, supervision and evaluation of staff; assist HR processes as needed.
• Monitor supplies, equipment and par levels; ensure maintenance and readiness.
• Collaborate with other managers to coordinate services and patient flow.
• Assess care delivery and documentation for safety and regulatory compliance.
• Direct staff to modify care plans as needed to ensure patient safety.
• Interview patients/families on admission and during rounds to enhance experiences.
