Job summary

Fairview Range's Emergency Department in Hibbing, MN seeks a compassionate Emergency Department Technician to support direct patient care under RNs and handle transfers, EKGs, vital signs and other clinical duties. This part-time role involves 12-hour Day/Evening/Night shifts with every third weekend.

The unit is a Level IV trauma center and Acute Stroke Ready hospital, providing around-the-clock care to diverse patients.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from a nursing aide program or similarly qualified background.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) within 90 Days.
• Current BCS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide Direct Patient Care.
• Assist in implementation of the plan of care.
• Observe and anticipate patient needs; maintain patient welfare and comfort.
• Identify and report major changes in patient condition promptly.
• Provide age-specific care under RN direction.
• Maintain a safe and hygienic patient environment.
• Demonstrate organizational skills.
• Participate in crisis intervention as directed.
• Assist family/visitors and explain hospital policies.
• Perform clerical duties and record patient data in the medical record.
• Prepare patient information for admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Maintain/organize chart forms and filing systems.
• Order needed supplies under charge nurse and maintain par levels.
• Maintain data, log sheets, and other ED information.
