Qualifications

• RN licensed in the state of employment or compact state license required.
• BSN preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in an acute care or hospital setting required.
• 1-2 years of experience in care management or utilization review preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients in the ED for medical necessity of admission using MCG or InterQual criteria.
• Determine appropriate inpatient, observation, or outpatient status.
• Identify patients for alternative care settings to avoid unnecessary admissions.
• Guide discharge planning and transitions to hospice or post-acute services.
• Verify next of kin and emergency contact information; ensure documentation accuracy.
• Collaborate with ED clinicians, hospitalists, care managers, and social services to support transitions.
• Perform other duties as assigned; maintain regular attendance and comply with policies.
