Job summary

Citi’s Equity Research team seeks a Senior Associate to support our Fintech research franchise and deliver independent investment insights to institutional clients globally. You will contribute to financial models, publications, and client engagement across Fintech, brokers, asset managers, and diversified financials.

You will work with senior analysts to develop differentiated investment views, apply AI tools to improve research workflows, and mentor junior staff in a high-performing team

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in Equity Research or related finance roles.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and corporate finance.
• Experience building financial models and performing valuation analyses (DCF, comps, precedents).
• Active holding of, or eligibility to obtain, SIE, Series 63, Series 86, and Series 87 licenses.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Build and update detailed financial models for companies across Financials & Fintech, including earnings forecasts and scenario modeling.
• Draft and co-author equity research publications and industry deep dives.
• Analyze fundamentals, trends, regulatory developments, and technologies to identify key investment themes and risks.
• Collaborate with senior analysts to develop differentiated investment views for institutional clients.
• Respond to inquiries from clients and coordinate investor events; support AI-enhanced research workflows.
• Mentor junior team members and ensure research outputs meet regulatory standards.

Citi’s Equity Research team is looking for a Senior Associate to support our Fintech research franchise, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, independent investment insights to institutional clients globally.

In this role, you will play a meaningful part in shaping investment research, financial models, and client engagement across a dynamic coverage universe spanning Fintech, brokers, asset managers, diversified financials, and other areas of the broader financial services ecosystem. This is an opportunity to combine deep fundamental analysis, financial modeling, industry research, and emerging AI-driven research methods while gaining exposure to both established financial institutions and evolving technology-driven business models within Citi’s globally connected research platform.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and update detailed financial models for companies across the Financials & Fintech landscape, including earnings forecasts, valuation analysis, and scenario modeling to support investment recommendations.
• Draft and co-author equity research publications, including earnings previews and recaps, initiation reports, industry deep dives, thematic research, and other sector-focused content.
• Analyze company fundamentals, industry trends, competitive dynamics, regulatory developments, and evolving technologies to identify key investment themes, risks, and opportunities across Fintech, brokers, asset managers, and diversified financials.
• Work closely with senior research analysts to develop differentiated investment views and translate complex financial and industry analysis into actionable insights for institutional investors.
• Respond to inquiries from internal and external clients, delivering timely and well-informed perspectives on sector developments and covered companies.
• Coordinate and support investor events including management meetings, company visits, industry conferences, and calls with industry experts and consultants.
• Apply AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance research workflows, streamline data analysis, and improve the quality and efficiency of published research.
• Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to a high-performing research environment through knowledge sharing and day-to-day guidance.
• Evaluate business and investment decisions with sound judgment, maintaining the integrity of research outputs and adhering to regulatory and ethical standards at all times.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5 to 8 years of experience in Equity Research, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Asset Management, Valuation, or another financial markets-related role.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting fundamentals, and corporate finance.
• Experience building financial models and performing company valuation analyses (DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions, or similar methodologies).
• Active holding of, or eligibility to obtain, SIE, Series 63, Series 86, and Series 87 licenses.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Intellectual curiosity and a genuine passion for financial markets and investing.
• Ability to learn quickly and develop expertise in a new industry or sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

• MBA, graduate degree, or CFA designation, demonstrating advanced financial and analytical expertise.
• Familiarity with the Financials or Fintech sectors, including knowledge of brokers, asset managers, diversified financials, payments, financial technology platforms, or related financial services business models.
• Hands-on experience applying AI tools or data analytics platforms to investment research or financial analysis workflows.
