Job summary

GW&K Investment Management in Boston seeks an Equity Research Analyst to serve as a sector specialist in Industrials, with Materials experience considered a plus. The role is hybrid: four days in the office and one day remote.

You will conduct fundamental analysis, build financial models, assess management quality, and present ideas to portfolio managers and the Investment Committee. MBA and/or CFA required with 7+ years buy-side equity experience focused on US small/mid-cap names.

Qualifications

  • MBA and/or CFA charter required.
  • 7+ years buy-side equity analysis with focus on US small and mid-cap; Industrials required; Materials preferred.
  • Experience presenting equity process and results to clients, prospects, and consultants.
  • Strong integrity, research rigor, and independent work capability.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, and advanced Excel/BI skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive fundamental analysis of industries, companies, and sectors; assess competitive dynamics and drivers.
  • Perform in-depth financial statement analysis and valuation.
  • Evaluate management quality and alignment with long-term value creation.
  • Identify and present buy/sell ideas to portfolio managers and the equity team.
  • Communicate rationale for portfolio decisions to clients, consultants, and traders.
  • Collaborate with the equity team to cover additional areas and products.

  • Conduct comprehensive fundamental analysis of various companies, industries, and sectors including:
    • Analyze industry dynamics and sources of competitive advantage
    • Perform in-depth financial statement analysis
    • Determine and follow key industry and company drivers
    • Evaluate quality of company management and their alignment with our focus on long term value creation for all stakeholders
    • Compare stock valuation to sustainable long term growth rate and intrinsic value of the underlying business
  • Identify and present buy/sell investment opportunities, ideas, and opinions to portfolio managers and equity team
  • Communicate rationale for portfolio decisions to clients, consultants, traders, and the firm’s Investment Committee
  • Work collaboratively with equity team to complete work outside of core coverage area and product
  • Communicate investment philosophy and process to prospective clients and consultants
Qualifications
  • MBA and/or CFA charter required.
  • 7+ years of buy-side experience performing equity analysis with a focus on US small and mid-cap research. Demonstrated experience with Industrials required and Materials preferred.
  • Prior experience and preference for working within a deliberate, low turnover investment process.
  • Experience and willingness to present an equity process and performance results to clients, prospects, and investment consultants at varying levels of financial sophistication.
  • Acts with the highest level of integrity and consistently puts clients’ interests first.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
  • Strong computer skills using Excel, FactSet and Bloomberg; proficiency with AI tools.

This role is based in our Boston office on a hybrid schedule - 4 days per week in-office, 1 day per week remote. The actual base salary is dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, GW&K employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus and/or commission, which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance.
