Valar Atomics is seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee end-to-end payroll and employee expenses. The role partners with HR, Finance, and leadership to ensure accurate compensation across states, with focus on tax compliance and process improvements.

The company emphasizes autonomy, ownership, and impact in a fast-growing energy startup. The candidate should have a Bachelor's in a related field and 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll and knowledge of federal/state tax

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
• 5+ years payroll experience in a fast-growing environment, multi-state.
• Solid knowledge of federal/state payroll tax laws & wage-and-hour rules.
• Experience administering a corporate T&E program.
• Proficiency with major payroll systems and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing across multiple states and ensure timeliness.
• Ensure payroll tax filings, W-2s, and year-end close are accurate and compliant.
• Collaborate with HR to manage hires, terminations, leaves, and benefit deductions.
• Be primary contact for payroll inquiries and resolve issues discretely.
• Continuously improve payroll processes, systems, and controls.
