Job summary

Valar Atomics in California is seeking a seasoned Payroll Manager to oversee end-to-end payroll processing and employee expense management across multiple states. You will ensure timely, accurate compensation while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local wage laws.

The role requires partnering with HR and Finance, optimizing payroll systems, and guiding policy on T&E, with a focus on internal controls and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years of payroll experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Knowledge of federal and state wage & hour laws.
• Experience administering a corporate T&E program.
• Proficiency with major payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end multi-state payroll processing.
• Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws and tax regulations.
• Oversee payroll tax filings, year-end close, and W-2s.
• Partner with HR to handle hires, terminations, leaves, and benefits deductions.
• Improve payroll processes and controls.
