Oak Park Elementary School District 97 is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant to support student learning in the classroom under the supervision of the teacher.

Responsibilities include assisting with supervision, implementing prescribed programs, maintaining records, and using instructional tools to support the education plan. The role emphasizes equity and collaboration with families and staff to advance student outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associate's Degree preferred.
• Ability to lift students is required.
• Ability to work and communicate with students professionally.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Knowledge of students' needs across educational, medical, physical, sensory, and social-emotional domains.

Responsibilities

• Assist with providing a variety of activities for a balanced program of instruction.
• Reinforce information and instructions after a lesson.
• Work with students individually or in small groups.
• Implement behavior modification plans for individual students.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students.
• Maintain positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
• Observe and record students' progress.
• Assist students during activities including recess, lunch, and bus access.
• Assist the classroom teacher and student in daily activities.
• Assist students with academic needs.
