Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. in San Carlos, CA is seeking a Fluids Engineer to own a critical fluid system from concept to flight. You will work on propulsion fluid design and vehicle fluid systems, collaborating with propulsion, structures, thermal, and avionics teams to deliver integrated hardware.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, analysis, testing, and real-time issue resolution. Candidates need a strong fluid mechanics background and CAD proficiency for flight hardware development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.
  • 1+ years designing fluid system hardware for flight vehicles or high-performance hardware.
  • Experience taking hardware from concept through build, integration and test.
  • Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer and materials.
  • Experience with fluid system analysis: pressure drop, flow sizing and thermal-fluid modeling.
  • Proficiency with CAD and creating drawings to ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
  • Citizenship/residency eligibility for U.S. ITAR requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Own your fluid subsystem from concept through design, analysis, test and flight.
  • Drive fluid designs for minimum mass while meeting pressure drop, proof, burst, leakage and cycle-life requirements across environments.
  • Design valves, routing architectures and storage hardware for propellant, pneumatic, and thermal services.
  • Balance performance, manufacturability, cost and schedule in every design decision.
  • Perform hand calculations, FEA and validate with test/flight data.
  • Own subsystem layout and integration across propulsion, thermal and pneumatic systems.
  • Define and execute qualification/acceptance test campaigns and document procedures.
