Job summary

KIPP Capital Region is seeking a School Counselor in Albany, NY, to assist students with academic achievement, personal development, and career exploration. You will identify goals, strengths, and interests while helping students grow into well‑adjusted, productive individuals.

Responsibilities include providing regular counseling, crisis support, documentation, and close collaboration with staff to support graduation, college readiness, and family engagement within a diverse urban school

Qualifications

• MSW or master’s degree in counseling-related discipline.
• Experience in schools or work with children/young adults.
• Experience with trauma-focused modalities.
• Ability to work flexible hours and maintain an inclusive environment.
• Urban/school setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide regular one-on-one or group counseling to students and families.
• Offer crisis intervention when needed.
• Document and track counseling interactions and schedules.
• Set goals with students and monitor progress toward graduation/college.
• Collaborate daily with supervisors, teachers, and staff to meet student needs.
• Support school culture and promote student well‑being.
