Job summary

Schenectady City School District seeks a Parent Liaison for a 10-month position to bridge home, school, and community. This role emphasizes culturally responsive practices and leveraging families’ linguistic experiences to inform district decisions and equitable outcomes.

The incumbent will collaborate with the Innovation, Equity and Engagement Office, support families, and implement anti-racist, trauma-sensitive approaches to engagement within the Schenectady community.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bilingual or multilingual speakers a plus.
• Must meet civil service requirements for appointment.

Responsibilities

• Identify and provide professional development for families, educators and community members on resources.
• Work with families to identify culturally responsive approaches and language/culture considerations.
• Track, collect and report family needs and recommendations.
• Administer surveys to gather district feedback on family involvement and partnerships.
• Value and engage with native and dialect languages used in the Schenectady community.
